Stage 10 — Weekend Assignment: Find Your Pattern
Stage Title: Weekend Assignment — Find Your Pattern
Estimated Time: 5 minutes (plus weekend observation
What You’ll Learn:
• How to move from “I always fall apart” to “I tend to struggle when…”
• One pattern is enough
Core Lesson (Weekend Assignment):
This weekend, during practice, a match, or reflection, identify one emotional pattern you already know you have.
Instead of saying: “I always fall apart” or “I’m mentally weak” or “I choke all the time” Say: “I tend to struggle when _.
” Examples:
• “I tend to struggle when I double fault.”
• “I tend to get tight when my parent is watching.”
• “I tend to rush when I’m frustrated.”
• “I tend to lose confidence when I miss a few shots in a row.”
• “I tend to give up when I’m down a break.” That is not a life sentence. That is information. And information is gold.
Apply It This Weekend:
Write down one pattern: “I tend to struggle when: _” That is your starting point. One pattern.
Reflection Prompt:
How does it feel to name a pattern without calling yourself a name? (Example: Instead of “I’m a choker” → “I tend to get tight when serving for the match”)
