Stage 15 — Weekend Assignment: Catch One Phrase
Stage Title: Weekend Assignment — Catch One Phrase
Estimated Time: 5 minutes (plus weekend observation)
What You’ll Learn:
• How to catch one harmful phrase and replace it with one helpful phrase
• One phrase is enough
Core Lesson (Weekend Assignment):
This weekend, during practice, a match, or reflection, catch one harmful phrase you say to yourself.
Examples:
• “I always do this.”
• “Here we go again.”
• “I can’t believe I missed that.”
• “I’m so bad.”
• “I knew I was going to mess up.”
Then, create one replacement phrase. Examples
: • Instead of “I always do this” → “Reset. Next point.”
• Instead of “Here we go again” → “One point at a time.”
• Instead of “I can’t believe I missed that” → “That one is over.”
• Instead of “I’m so bad” → “I’m struggling right now. I can compete through this.”
Apply It This Weekend:
Write down: “The harmful phrase I caught was: _” “My replacement phrase is: _” Use the replacement phrase at least once this weekend.
Reflection Prompt:
Was it hard to catch the harmful phrase? Was it hard to remember the replacement?
